Quality run shelters keep those numbers down. They find resources and programs to find rescues, fosters and adopters through their staff and volunteers. These shelters only euthanize due to illness/injury and behavior. The behavior can be questionable because not all shelters have qualified people to access behavior properly. We hope to bring support and resources to these shelters.
Then there are the shelters that euthanize based on breed (and they lie about it), age and poor evaluations. These shelters also hide their numbers. Their ethics are not what we hope for in shelters in South Carolina. We hope to bring change to these issues.
